вЂњWe are all in one way or another selfish machines,вЂќ Vic explains when asked about the albumвЂ™s title. вЂњEvery song is super personal theyвЂ™re all very real about our lives and I think once people read them they can probably see a little bit about whatвЂ™s going on with us.вЂќ

вЂњWe have a studio at home that I like to hang out in, so I basically just shut myself out from the world for three or four months and spent all day and night writing,вЂќ he continues. вЂњItвЂ™s pretty hard for us to write on the road because weвЂ™re touring in an RV most of the time with tight quarters, which doesnвЂ™t bode well for creativity,вЂќ Vic acknowledges with a laugh. вЂњIвЂ™ve got a piano in my house now so IвЂ™d been messing around on it and ended up writing some riffs, which I think definitely gave the album a different feel,вЂќ he continues, adding that he hopes to eventually implement keyboards into the bandвЂ™s live performances.ДЄlthough Pierce The Veil have toured incessantly for the past three years, they made some time late last year to write these tracks and instantly threw themselves into the songwriting process.

There are also plenty of sonic surprises on Selfish Machines, most notably the emotive, piano-driven ballad вЂњStay Away From My FriendsвЂќ which displays the bandвЂ™s growth as songwriters. вЂњWeвЂ™re not settling on anything with this record.вЂќДЇrom the soaring pop sensibility of songs like вЂњBulletproof LoveвЂќ to the upbeat aggression of вЂњCarapherneliaвЂќ, the album shows how versatile Pierce The Veil have become, whether theyвЂ™re screaming their hearts out or gently bearing their souls. вЂњIt was definitely necessary to take the extra time with this recording,вЂќ he continues. вЂњIt was actually a pretty intense process,вЂќ Vic explains, adding that the band didnвЂ™t finish the album in the time allotted which forced him to stay in LA for an extra two months working on vocals and bouncing between recording studios working on new ideas. Recorded with Mike Green (Paramore, Set Your Goals) in Los Angeles, the album ended up being more involved than initially planned-but that ended up being a blessing in disguise. All of this figures into the groupвЂ™s long-awaited sophomore release Selfish Machines, an album that sees the band-frontman Vic Fuentes, drummer Mike Fuentes, guitarist Tony Perry and bassist Jaime Preciado-coming together to craft an inventive album that is certain to challenge peopleвЂ™s perception of the band. The band have toured the world including Warped Tour in 2008 and Taste Of Chaos in 2009 converted countless fans to their unique brand of progressive post-hardcore and, most notably, grown as both people and musicians from these cumulative experiences. Since their formation theyвЂ™ve released three studio albums, and were recently signed to their first major label, Fearless Records.A lot has happened in the three years since Pierce The Veil released their debut A Flair For The Dramatic in 2007. Their sound has been described as вЂњpost-hardcore,вЂќ and while IвЂ™m not sure what that means, theyвЂ™re from southern California and often play the Warped Tour, so I bet it has something to do with loud, catchy guitar riffs. Pierce the Veil was formed in 2006 by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes. and parts of Canada, as Pierce the Veil will hit up many major cities throughout the continent. The rest of October and the majority of November will be spent traipsing through the U.S. The band will take a couple weeks off, and then on October 12 are back on the road kicking off the North American portion of their tour with a show in Pomona, CA, at The Glasshouse. The tour will span six weeks, beginning on September 16 in Leeds and hitting up major cities in the UK such as Newcastle, Glasgow, London, and Manchester. The tour will be in support of their latest album, Collide with the Sky, which was released on July 17 and debuted at number 12 on the U.S. San Diego-based rockers Pierce the Veil have announced they will headline a tour across North America and the UK this fall.
